'Recreation Aids', Moderation, and Me

I know, I know, the boilerplate answer for a blog like this is 'don't drink, don't smoke pot, treat your body like a temple'. The thing is, I don't think most people really work like that. Getting into a fitness routine is intimidating enough without having to change all your other habits. Now, drinking too much is pretty bad for you, and too much THC will make it hard to get out the door to the gym, that much is very true. But if you like a social drink or take a gummy to unwind after a tough day, you don't have to go cold turkey to get going with a fitness routine! For myself, I haven't had THC in a while, but my go-to are edibles. Now that they're legal in my state, I can order one and enjoy it on my cheat day, when I don't care so much about overeating or being a bit lazy. I used to take gummies after the gym in college, but after a while I saw the number on the scale ticking up, and I started to oversleep pretty often. I would demolish party ...

The Siren Song of the Couch

So, I spent 10 hours in front of the TV yesterday. I'd just gotten home from lifting and I was sore and kind of just -done- with everything, y'know? I was still dressed in my workout clothes, my feet and pits totally stunk, but did I get up? Noooo. I needed to see if my favorite contestant was going to win her endurance challenge and break up with her girlfriend...and then that episode left on a cliffhanger, so one more episode, right? And then the muscle soreness started to kick in, and I sunk into the couch like a jellyfish that got washed up on the beach!       So there I was, smelling like a gym...

The Smellier Side of Things

I know you might have seen glamour shots of me on fitness websites. A lot of people have said really kind things about my achievements and even my appearance. It's really flattering, but this is as much an honest life blog as it is a fitness page. It's also why I don't do advertising on here; I have career sponsorships, but this is a personal blog where I can really get my feelings out to you all, so I don't try and promote products on here. This post is gonna be about the less-than-glamorous side of my fitness journey, and some of the kinda embarrassing things that have happened to me along the way! I hope that I can encourage you all to be less self conscious about hitting the gym with this one! So, today was a heavy lifting day. Dumbells and barbells. About two hours into my routine, I was doing standing dumbbell lifts and caught a whiff of myself. I was in a tank top and I realized was totally unleashing the kraken on nearby gym-goers. Like, major, eye-watering pit...
